Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Chicago Theater - 2007-09-29

This I am particularly excited about. It seems like every time I go to a show and get the recording it always sucks; shitty quality, shitty crowd, shitty everything. Not this time though, it is soundboard. I gave up on this show being posted but fuck me, this is a gift. This was definitely the best Ryan Adams show I have ever seen. Every time I have seen it has been good or great, never fucking amazing like this was.

A week prior I was in St. Louis with 3 buddies and my sister. Well as we were walking into the show I spotted Cardinals guitarist Neal Casal and I thought that was awesome (and it was) . Well, my buddy Scott grabs me after the show and we hit the Casino Queen (yes the Wilco Casino Queen). Meanwhile Tim, Matt and my sister are behind the venue hanging out with Ryan Adams for half an hour. I was almost sick right there on that fucking boat when I found out(the Casino Queen is a boat).

Back to Chicago though. Ryan was kind of in a questionable time. I love everything he does but some of the live jamming he was doing was not really exciting me too much. After this show I walked out, looked at Matt and told him that "I believe again." It was corny and a half joke but it really made me remember what an absolutely stunning musician he really is.

Was anybody in attendance?

MMJ - Bonnaroo 2004-06-12

This was my first exposure to My Morning Jacket. No, I was not there, it was 2 years after the show took place that my friend Tim from St. Louis showed me a Bonnaroo documentary with some performances from MMJ. I was down there with a couple of buddies selling this piece of shit 1992 Toyota Tercel that had a major dent on every panel (I got $1000 bucks for it though). Anyways, the documentary switched between Jim James playing Golden solo and the whole band raging through Steam Engine in the pouring rain. The logo for this site is a picture of the end of the Steam Engine from this show, Jim James, front and center, offering his guitar to the Gods. It is a really amazing site. This version Cobra is really great, I wish they played that more often these days. Jim James right after At Dawn - "THIS IS RETURN TO THUNDERDOME!"

For a ton pictures from the show head over to The Jackets website here.

Jim and Carl - 2008.05.16 - Desmet Amsterdam, The Netherlands

This is a treat. I snagged this over at MMJ forums at least a week ago and just got around to listening to it today. Thank you Kory for chopping it up and making the album art with CC Baxter's truly awesome picture.

I have not gotten all the way through it yet but like it so much that I thought I would share it right away. Man this is a beautiful acoustic set and a definite must have.

Thank You Linda Park

I just would like to say thanks to Linda Park for all of her amazing pictures of our boys at Bonnaroo. Every picture I posted of them at Bonnaroo and the album cover I made for the show was taken by her.

Check out her blog at Velocity Weekly and her Flickr page, she takes some really incredible shots.

My Morning Jacket Videos

Here are a slew of MMJ videos from over the years. The good people on the official MMJ message board posted these, thank them. In this batch we have them on Conan performing Touch Me Pt. II, Anytime and On Big Holiday (Conan's expression at the end is awesome). There is also a Conan skit that aired the same day as Touch Me Pt. II. The AOL Sessions spawned a pretty cool interview with the man himself, Jim James and drum roll please...The famed Documentary from the Netherlands - This Is NOT America. All of them but the OBH are in a zipped file via Megaupload.

MMJ - Lebowski Fest 2004-06-18

Here is one from the archives (both metaphorically and literally). Our boys raging through Lebowski Fest back in '04. It Beats For You makes an early appearence and during Just One Thing the intro music is turned up and plays longer then intended and you hear Jim jokingly mid song say "Hey Ryan! Turn the intro music off!" (I looked into it, Rayn is now serving "borsh" in Siberia). Hearing How Do You Know is great as well. It is nice to reach back a bit and listen to some older stuff, especially considering how big they are these days. I was at Borders today and I pulled down 5 magazines with MMJ on the cover or somewhere on the cover. Sometimes it feels like At Dawn and It Still Moves get overlooked by people, including myself, when these are the albums that made me fall in love with them in the first place(CHECK OUT THE NEW POLE). At Dawn is quite possibly my favorite fall time album ever (tough decision though, Harvest, Animals, Cold Roses and Summerteeth all rank very high, WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITES?) Anyways, here is another great show.

Disc 1

01 lebowski intro
02 the man in me
03 golden
04 just one thing
05 it beats for you
06 lowdown
07 the way that he sings
08 how do you know
09 strangulation
10 one big holiday >
11 i will sing you songs

Disc 2

01 o is the one that is real
02 cobra $
03 dancefloors $
04 mahgeetah
05 at dawn
06 steam engine
07 run thru
