MMJ - Bonnaroo 2008 XM Broadcast MP3's

Unfortunately 4 tracks are missing, that is just the way the torrent is. Sorry and if I come across them I will post them.

My quick listen earlier did not reveal that for some reason the audio cuts in and out. It kind of fucking sucks since this is or superior quality.

I was cruisin' the MMJ forum yesterday and came across a thread about a XM Broadcast download over at bt.etree. The download finished this morning and the quality is better and it had a file with all the Bonnaroo pictures from the website! Enjoy and replace the old show!

The Lightning Bug Situation

I came across this stuff about 8 months ago. Aquarium Drunkard posted a couple of songs and I really dug their shit. An off shoot Lighting Bug site on The Speakers (band is made up of people from the The Speakers) site has their album but it is now available on iTunes. A Leaf; A Stream is a concept album of sorts with interviews mid music (think Dark Side of the Moon but more prominent) and some really intense guitar work, most notably on Iraqui Man and Baby Daugher, 2007 . There is a real made-in-a-bedroom feel to it.

Radiohead - 2008- 05-11 Washington DC

I was fortunate enough to catch Radiohead in St. Louis on their current tour and they were nothing less then breathtaking. Between the music, on stage antics and the lights this show was one of the best I have seen. Here is the show they played in Washington, check out the Jigsaw Falling Into Place, fucking intense.

MMJ - Radio City Music Hall

My Morning Jacket played their sold-out-in-22-minutes show at New York's famed Radio City Music Hall last Friday. I just got this from archive.org and I have not listened to it yet but I did see a pretty ridiculous (meaning awesome) video of Jim James at the end of Steam Engine; I am not going to explain, just check it out yourself, it is well worth it (It happens on One Big Holiday too).

All these live shows are becoming overwhelming! We have SXSW, Bonnaroo, I just ripped Jim James at St. Davids Church (on NPR website, quality is excellent, give me a couple of days to break it up and turn them into MP3's) and now this. But I would rather be overwhelmed by this then something like poverty.

What it comes down to is that My Morning Jacket may play similar set lists from night to night (excluding Bonnaroo) but every song every night has its own feel and sonic signature that cannot be duplicated and that is what makes them the best touring band out there. Enjoy the show, I know I will get a couple listens in tonight.

And if you are intersted, here is asshole defined.

My Morning Jacket - Bonnaroo 2008....Graphic

Here is what I came up with, hope you enjoy and if you make your own please email it to me!

THE download is at 80.3% and it is about 8PM. Since I have this going at work and I came in hoping it was done everyone will have to wait until tomorrow morning. Sorry and I hope this bastard is done by then.

MMJ at Bonnaroo 2008

Will be posted as soon as it is finished downloading. It will be in MP3 format and I will leave the FLAC download for those who want to go to bt.etree, it is a huge file (1.17GB) and that would take forever to upload to Media Fire!

Patience, I am at 22% right now!

This is awesome...

I will follow this man into oblivion.

My Morning Jacket Owned Bonnaroo....Again

Well My Morning Jacket played another marathon show at Bonnaroo. The set list is amazing, 35 songs over 4 hours and an appearance by Kirk Hammett of Metallica on One Big Holiday, man that must have been amazing. Does anybody rage harder then My Morning Jacket? I think not, they are 5 rageaholics with instruments. Here is the set list and as soon as I can get my "My Morning Jacket grubbing hands" on any media from this show it will be posted. I am really hoping Bonnaroo.com will sell this show in a high quality format, this time around there is no live album looming to prevent that, keep your fingers crossed!

My Morning Jacket on Conan June 19th

Check out My Morning Jacket on Conan June 19th!

I love any chance I get to see them, preferably live, but if it has to be on TV then HD is the way to go.

Early Jim James Pictures

I was just cruising the forums over at the MMJ official website and came across a link with some pictures of Jim James when he was playing in Month of Sundays. I think you can really see it in his stance in the above picture but check out the link below, there are all sorts of them.

My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges Acoustic project V.1

This will be a little ongoing project that I will periodically update as I get acoustic versions of the songs off of My Morning Jackets excellent new album Evil Urges. The first installment has 6 of the new songs; all these versions sends chills up my spine, especially Librarian at 3:48; you will know exactly what I am talking about. Unfortunately I do not think that this will ever be complete because I do not see Jim and the guys playing Highly Suspicious and some others acoustically ever but who knows what this project can transform into. Enjoy and updates will follow!

Jim James and Carl Broemel - The Black Cab Sessions

Stumbled across this yesterday... And never heard of it before but upon browsing their catalog they have some big (meaning good) names on there.

THE THING THAT COMES TO MIND REMEMBERING THIS SESSION, APART FROM THE LOVELY TWO MY MORNING JACKETS, CLAD IN CLOAKS AND CARRYING AN OMNICHORD, IS THE CABBIES. THE FIRST CABBY WE HAILED WAS AN ESCAPED CONVICT. MAYBE. BECAUSE ONCE WE EXPLAINED WHAT WE WERE PLANNING TO DO, HE COVERED UP HIS FACE AND DECLINED SAYING 'I DON'T LIKE CAMERAS ME, NEVER WANT TO BE ON TV, PLEASE LEAVE'. ATTEMPT TWO WAS A WHOLE DIFFERENT KETTLE OF POISSON. THIS CABBY COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE UP FOR IT AND AT THE END SAID HE WOULD GO STRAIGHT TO BUY THEIR CD. AND JUDGING BY THIS PERFORMANCE, WE'D SAY HE'S ON THE RIGHT TRACK.

Jeff Tweedy - Rocky Mountain Folk Festival 2006

I saw Jeff Tweedy solo on February 20th, 2006 at a little bar in DeKalb, IL called Otto's. Wilco used to play at this place pretty regularly up until A Ghost Is Born and Jeff was actually quoted in Rolling Stone magazine that the first show he played out of rehab, which was at Otto's, was the best show that Wilco has ever played. That is pretty (pretty=REALLY) awesome, however, I was not there, my brother-in-law was, and he was standing front row (the place holds less then 1,000 people, and that is probably an overestimate), and he concurs. Anyways, Jeff played a solo show therein February of 2006, I was about 10 feet from the stage and to this day it remains one of the best and most amazing shows I have ever seen. I had this recording at one point, it was great quality too, and I have since lost it (anybody have it?!?). He finished his set off with Acuff-Rose; he unplugged from the PA system and played it at the edge of the stage, the place was dead silent. Since I cannot share that show with you here is him at the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival in 2006. This has long been one of my favorite listens.
