Unlce Tupelo - WMBR - Boston, MA - 1991-1-24

Dipping way back into the archives today. 1991, 18 years ago almost to the day. Jay Farrar's voice has not gotten any less special after all this time, listen to Whiskey Bottle and feel the hair on your arms stand up. Tweedy sounds sooo young; a pubescent little weirdo (second paragraph, second sentance) with a great voice.

Since UT Tweedy has become an indie(?) superstar and Farrar has really kind of hid in the shadows. I saw Son Volt last year (again, I think almost to the date) and Farrar was f*ckin on man. Anyways, this is a great showcase of two amazing artists finding their niche in the music world, enjoy!

Carl Broemel - Lose What's Left & Live at Spin Indy

It seems like I have been getting a lot of questions/comments/praises about how good Carl Broemel's, MMJ multi-instrumentalist-all-around-bad-ass, solo album is so I figured I would post it again. The Live at Spin Indy is PART of a show I found a while back. For some reason not all the tracks would download correctly but 7 did. Lose What's Left is a hidden treasure.

MMJ - Live from Las Vegas at The Palm

Just got done with my first listen and this really is relaxing stuff. It is really great to finally have a quality live recroding of Knot Comes Loose. This Nashville To Kentucky is one of the best I have heard, this song in particular is totally relaxing and Carl's sax is beautiful. Dear Wife (anyone know anything about this track?) has a lounge music type piano solo starting around 1:01 that really does seem straight out of Vegas. This is almost like a shorter version of Neil Young's Rust Never Sleeps; some hits, some rarities, some acoustic, some electric. GO BUY IT!!!

iTunes

1. Tonight I Wanna Celebrate With You
2. Dear Wife
3. Knot Comes Loose
4. Nashville To Kentucky
5. They Ran
6. Thank You Too

Band Of Horses - Orange Peel; Asheville, NC - 2007-3-16

First off I would like to mention that version 2.0 of the great music blog Mystic Chords of Memory is back and has some great stuff posted.

Next, I am uploading this file as well because I do not want the download limit to be exceeded on MCofM.

Last, BofH is great. I first got turned on to them by my buddy and initially I did not pay enough attention to them. What it was is that I was very enveloped into MMJ at the time and didn't really care about anything else. A trip to Wisconsin later with said friend my outlook changed on these guys totally. This is a great show.
