Off to Wisconsin...

I am off for a little Wisconsin retreat. Nothing but smoking meat, drinking whiskey and listening to tunes until Tuesday. When I get back I will have something sweet to post for you guys, until then, take care.

Oh yeah, the picture above is exactly where I will be. The weather is calling for sub 40 degree weather and snow. Thank God.

"For Emma, Forever Ago" has been an absolute delight to listen to over the course of this winter. If you've ever been to Wisconsin, or the upper mid-west for that matter, during this time of the year then I think you'll understand the beauty Justin Vernon captured so thoughtfully in the album.

The video for "Wolves 1 & 2" also captures the cold Wisconnie winter months. I've lived that video a hundred times or more.

Come on up to Door County. There's some great local music up here.

Also look up "Steel Bridge Songfest". It's a great June music festival on the water in Sturgeon Bay. It's been organized for the last three years by pat mAcdonald.

Always some great music happening in this area.

Come to the Bayside in Fish Creek.
Lots o' MMJ on the jukebox....thank you very much.

Man, I love this part of the country!

Waterski in November in Wisconsin? I don't think so...

My question would be about Jason's plans: "Nothing but smoking meat, drinking whiskey and listening to tunes..."

Smoking meat? Is that legal? How do you keep it lit? What's the buzz like? Can you get hooked on that stuff?

OB, since I am not sure if you are serious or not smoking is a method of cooking and yes it is addicting.

Nope, not serious, jes' funnin' with ya...

Smoked meat is beyond addictive. It's a friggin' lifestyle. And home-smoked beats the bejabbers out of that store-bought stuff, which in turn outpaces just about all pre-prepped foods.

I have the great good fortune to live in coastal New England (O.B. is Oakland Beach, Rhode Island) and be blessed with fishin' friends who love to catch bluefish and salmon, but not eat them, so the smokin' goes on in a smokehouse at my bro's place in New Hampshire. It's well worth the ride, as I'm sure you know.

All of a sudden, I'm hungry...
