Uncle Tupelo - Live at Beloit College - 1992-9-11

Gorgeous little gem from 18 years ago. This is from a folk fest and is the first time they played (sung by a young Jeff Tweedy) Neil Young's "Motion Pictures" from his superb 1974 release, On The Beach (one of my favorites records ever).

Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down (flawed)
True To Life
No Depression
Watch Me Fall
Shaky Ground
Atomic Power
Whiskey Bottle
Wait Up
Wipe the Clock
I Wish My Baby Was Born
Do Re Mi
Life Worth Livin’
I Wanna Be Your Dog
Still Be Around
Warfare
Moonshiner
Grindstone
Sin City
Motion Pictures

Wilco - Ian Dury (Turn Around and Come Back To Me)

From what I understand this is a pretty rare track. According to WilcoBase.com it has only been played live 4 times (this recording is one of those live instances, not idea which one), under the name "Turn Around and Come Back To Me" and apparently parts of the lyrics were off the cuff and different each time. It's a great early Wilco tune, you can here the late Jay Bennett doing his thing on this recording.

Yim Yames - Louisville is for Lovers' 2010

So who was there? I'm heinously jealous. It sounds like it was an amazing evening, it seems like he was really enjoying himself and he even played a new song ("Good Morning Dove"). This makes the wait for Columbus that much longer. "Wonderful (The Way I Feel)" is one of the most moving songs I've ever heard.

Thanks johnnYYac for getting this to me. johnnYYac has some ultra cool stuff going on at his Omnichord site (the weird looking oval-ish thing Yim Yame's plays on the reg, listen to "Anytime" from this set if you're not sure, or this pic) johnnYYac's Omnichord Ramblings. He covers some Jacket, absolutely worth checking out.

The photo is by the immensely talented Kory Johnson, check out the rest of this particular evenings photos here and the rest of his work here.

Jambase.com coverage here.

Thanks tapers! You guys are amazing.

Britt Daniel - The Swedish American Hall - 2006-03-29

I'm getting super excited about the upcoming Spoon show in Chicago. Over the past month or so I've really started breathing in all Spoon has to offer and they are such a fantastic band. I adore Daniel's voice, I LOVE his guitar spasms, the bands use of the keys is excellent and they seem to have a real knack for putting out quality records. Check out this solo set from the Spoon frontman.

Support Ear X-Tacy

Couple days late on this but it's a good cause. I've only been there once but it is easily the finest record store I've ever been to. I bought another copy of this, you should too!

Text taken from MyMorningJacket.com:

Hey Gang,

Louisville was hit with some alarming news. Our beloved independent record store and pillar of our community, Ear X-tacy, is on the brink of closing down due to a decline in business over the last three years. We as a band cannot express how important local businesses are to the very fiber of a community, and stores such as ear X-tacy are prime examples.

It is out of our distinct appreciation and respect for John Timmons and the Ear X-tacy staff that we offer a digital download of our live album, CelebraciĆ³n De La Ciudad Natal, for $4.99, with all proceeds going to Ear X-tacy.

The EP can be purchased at the ear X-tacy digital home page here: http://digital.thinkindie.com/search/release.php?RELEASE_ID=33616
